About the department
About Zoology
The department of Zoology is one of its kind in the institute as it offers subjects of Endocrinology as well as Oceanography. The department has well equipped labs, enriched with taxonomical specimens, skulls and skeletons. It is the only Government college in Maharashtra which offers the subject of Endocrinology. The department plays a key role in academic as well as research activities.

Message from the Head
Welcome to the Department of Zoology at The Institute of Science, Mumbai. We offer post graduate programs which include MSc and PhD. Our goal is to provide students with a balance of intellectual and practical experiences that enable them to serve a variety of societal needs. Our syllabus is updated according to the NEP guidelines. Since last year, we have also started a Value Added Course – ‘Sericulture’.
We have a young and dynamic faculty, whose expertise spans the range of disciplines in the subject of zoology. We have a healthy work culture and we nurture the attitude of confidence and self-reliance. Such is the idea behind the dynamic zoology department in effect, which believes in building careers, enriching minds and providing a remarkable experience that lasts a lifetime.
I am confident that the students would justify the credibility of the department by showing a high level of professional competence in this field. I wish good luck to all of them!
